I envisioned his lover. She was fun, carefree, composed, natural, confident, perhaps a fine artist or an opera singer. I would find Rick and her together and command, “Sing for me, sing!” I would hear her angelic voice hit high C and then I would smile and kill her, bludgeoning her over the head with a rolling pin until I felt better.
